This was off a boat left to me. This was off a mixed-use boat (if you know anything about South Jersey, you drive an hour in one direction and you attacked saltwater, drive an hour in the opposite direction and you attacked fresh water, and there are lots of freshwater, saltwater, and brackish lakes, rivers, and streams all over the place. From what I gather, this watercraft was primarily continued a trailer and made use of for outing throughout the location.) You 'd probably either laugh or cry if I showed you the boat now. There were definitely some highlights.

This 888 was a monster in a 19' bowrider, paired with an old school MR drive (which is in like-new condition, ironically, however will likely be offered individually. Kindly let me understand if you are interested. It must be an easy fix-up to obtain the entire set in working order.) I really believe this was a repower task, due to the fact that the engine lists as a 1973, but the boat lists as a 1984ish. Anyhow, I drew this thing out, believing it would be an easy fix-up, a little spit and polish and it would be on its means. Let's just state it didn't work out that way.

Long story short, I ended up stripping it down to the very last nut and bolt. Sent the block and visit the factory, sleeved one cylinder and bored all of them to.030 over. Pressure checked each cylinder, acid-washed, and had them install new camera bearings and freeze plugs. Heads were good, 4 intake valves needed to be replaced, retouched a few of the seats, and a few go through the cleaner and they were excellent to go. Camera and crank had hardly a scratch on them, so I didn't touch them. It appeared that this engine invested even more time sitting than running. Then installed new hypereutectic pistons, rings, bearings, timing equipments and chain, and a brand-new oil pump.

Right here's where this gets fascinating - as opposed to just a fresh coat of paint, all the external parts, other than the brand-new parts, were sandblasted and powder coated. They were very first cleaned and stripped all to bare metal, then primaried with a special corrosion-resistant primer powder, and afterwards powdered with the high-gloss black and chrome color you see. This consists of all the exhaust parts, consumption, carburetor, timing cover, harmonic balancer, sheaves, oil pan, valve covers, rear plate, fuel-water separator, a few random plates, and LOTS of bolt heads. The block and heads were repainted with the initial mercury black paint that I managed to locate.

I put together everything with lots of new parts:.
Alternator, starter, fuel pump, fuel lines, filters, belt, thermostat housing, thermostat, water distributing pump, distributor cap, wires, plugs, points, exhaust elbows, drain plugs, gaskets, solenoid, coil, and a couple of others.

As you can see in the video connected, this thing runs best. It's got a nice little purr, too.

This bad kid is plug-and play all set for most boats 16-21ft that can accept pre-alpha and some very early Alpha 1 Generation 1 designs. Actually, 6 bolts, a circuitry harness, and a small amount muscle can get this in your boat. If you took the cover off your watercraft this spring, and discovered that the worst had actually happened, or if you have a 4cyl or a crappy V-6 and are looking to get a little even more jump, or if you already have an older engine that's giving you difficulty, you have to choose up this engine. Made use of in a little bowrider or cuddy cabin, this thing will certainly point your bow to the sky. It's factory ranked at 188hp, but as is, you can probably enter the low 200s. With some modifications, you can get far more hp out of it.

Like I said, I have the drive that matches this motor, however I haven't gone through it yet. It's in excellent condition, however I'm sure it needs a gimble bearing and a water pump at minimum. The gears seem tight though.

Oh, and I do have the Y-pipe for the exhaust. I left it off for demonstration.

Located in Southern New Jersey. Personal demonstrations offered upon demand.

Enjoy!
